Maybe so, as James Hohmann writes in his latest column. Indeed, Biden's handling of the crisis in Ukraine has so far avoided the pitfalls that contributed to his chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan. "Rather than hoping for the best and planning for the best, as he did in Afghanistan, Biden's administration has prepared for worst-case scenarios in Ukraine," Hohmann writes. That doesn't mean Biden's standoff with Russia has been perfect. And whether his tactics will ultimately succeed remains to be seen. Nevertheless, this is an administration that seems to be internalizing lessons from its failures. That's a good thing.
